About
Kathi R. Kitner is a senior research scientist with Intel Labs’ USA-based Interaction and Experience Research (IXR) group and holds a PhD in cultural anthropology and Latin American Studies. She brings strong expertise in the fields of sustainable development, ecological and human adaption, public policy and social impact evaluation to her current work on information communication technologies (ICTs) and social change. She recently wrapped up research on the interplay between class, consumption, shifting world economies and technology adoption in the project Consumerization (see http://papr.intel-research.net/svm.htm). Kathi is presently (Spring 2011)developing anthropological research into new understandings of the intersection of class and gender and how these affect new mobile technologies - such as smart phones- among middle and lower income groups in India, Australia and the US.
